When you need the comfort and convenience of a four-door family sedan, but you’re not quite ready to give up on the full-throated roar of a true muscle car, the 2019 Dodge Charger gives you the best of both worlds. It’s a full-size sedan, and the top trim is also the most powerful production sedan available. Here are four of the features that make it thrilling to own.

exterior styling
The Charger is available in SXT, GT, R/T, Scat Pack, and SRT Hellcat trims. The SXT features head-turning styling. Sitting low on 17-inch alloy wheels, the bulging hood, LED signature daytime running lights, and sleek sculpted profile give the impression of speed even when the car is stationary. The twin bright exhaust tips and continuous ribbon of the taillights are all that the competition is likely to see.

The all-wheel drive SXT gets you LED fog lamps and 19-inch wheels, while the GT features a performance grille and fascia, a hood air extractor, and 20-inch wheels. The Scat Pack has a black performance spoiler, and the SRT Hellcat adds a performance hood with twin air extractors and high-intensity discharge headlamps.

Under the hood of the SXT and GT is a 292 horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 engine delivering 260 pound-feet of torque. For all-wheel drive models, the output is increased to deliver 300 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque. The R/T model gets a 370 horsepower 5.7-liter V-8 that produces 395 pound-feet of torque.

The Scat Pack features a 6.4-liter V-8 producing 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet. Top-of-the-range is the track-bred SRT Hellcat with its supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 that pumps out an eye-watering 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard with all engines.

V-6 equipped models will go from 0 to 60 mph in just over 6 seconds. The R/T will take you to 60 mph in a little over 5 seconds, while the Scat Pack accelerates to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and can complete the quarter-mile in 12.4 seconds.

The SRT Hellcat will pin you to your seat as it gets to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and takes just 11.8 seconds to hit the quarter-mile. The speed tops out at over 200 mph. To harness that awesome power, the Hellcat features three-mode electric power steering, Brembo ultra high-performance brakes, and Bilstein three-mode dynamic damping suspension. It also has a launch control system for track use.

You can find the ideal driving position with the eight-way power-adjustable performance seats in cloth or available leather. Seamless shifting is provided by the steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters on all but the SXT trim. Key driver information is displayed on the 7-inch customizable multi-information screen

The infotainment system keeps you connected and entertained with smartphone integration, 4G Wi-Fi, Bluetooth for hands-free calling, six-speaker audio, and a 7-inch touch screen. GT trim and up adds an 8.4-inch touch screen and premium audio with a 276-watt amplifier.
